Amadeo de Souza Cardoso (1887-1918) was born in Amarante (Portugal) in 1887 and lived between Portugal and Paris, establishing multiple relations with the European artistic milieu. A testimonial of his live and is relations with the most relevant European artists was preserved by his widow Lucie de Souza Cardoso and, in part, donated to Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in 1987.
